David Donohoe is a composer, recordist, artist, performer and improviser from Dublin, Ireland. His work operates at the intersection of instrumentation, synthesis, field-recording and processing. His performance practice involves scored works, electroacoustic presentation and solo/collaborative improvisation.

A long-term collaborator of photographer Eamonn Doyle, he has composed for Doyle’s acclaimed books, exhibitions and installations alongside designer & curator Niall Sweeney, most recently the major show at RHA Dublin (2019) and at Fundacion MAPFRÉ, Madrid (2019–20). This show features the 9 screen 4-channel audio installation MADE IN DUBLIN, featuring fourth collaborator, author Kevin Barry. Commissioned by St Patrick’s Festival, MADE IN DUBLIN continues to tour internationally to critical acclaim. Their debut short-film, Ex commissioned by RTÉ was broadcast in December 2020 and selected for the Berlin Short Film Festival 2021.

2022 saw a significant commission award from Dublin Digital Radio to compose and perform a new work, Fen at the Alternating Current festival, The Complex, Dublin. Invited to perform at The National Concert Hall’s ‘Haunted Dancehall’, he performed Summon, a suite of scored works. 2022 also saw the premiere of Fract, a new scored work for percussion duo and electronics. Both Summon and Fen are scheduled for album release in 2023.

He regularly performs in duo with David Lacey (drums, percussion, electronics). He has released on Dinzu Artefacts, Verz Imprint, D1 Recordings, Fort Evil Fruit, Force-Inc, Fällt, Mille Plateaux, Minimise and his own imprint Studiomime.
